Just an example of the dramatics and unbalanced outlook from the Daily Kos. Go figure, I always took the extreme left to be so reasonable, in a psychotic sort of way. Nurse! Could you bring Maryscott her meds?
Gaze upon the Face of Pure Evil! Satan thy Name is Samuel Alito!

As we are a caring Republic we took it upon ourselves to find out why it is that visitor jaime is always in such a foul mood.
The Republic anthropologists and archivists dug deep and were able to come up with this revealing photo of jaime’s youth. It seems that Ronald Reagan was still a Democrat at the time of this photograph and in that capacity he was able to give young jaime the nurturing and caring he needed as one of the valued children of the USA. Note how the young lad wants for nothing.
In the 60’s Mr. Reagan took an evil turn to the right and became a Republican. It was at this time he told jaime that he’d have to get his own milk, and he would have to work for it too. This cruel twist of fate sent young jaime into a tailspin from which he has yet to recover. He did not realize that like any good adult, the future President was just looking out for his welfare and best interest.
jaime was not to be deterred and vowed at that point to fight conservatism and impugn conservatives with every waking breath. If he couldn’t find evil things to pin on them he’d invent them and keep saying it over and over and over until his lies BECAME perception. Sound familiar?
So good visitors to our fair Republic, we have gotten to the bottom of things; as with all liberal ills we have found the true cause to all the strife in the world… it was Reagan’s fault. Thank God we had him.

Then nullifies it by his stupefying actions. In today’s Washington Times he makes a plain sense statement that the Democrats need to curtail their over-reliance on procedural manuevers such as the filibuster threat against Judge Samuel Alito. Even Sen. Biden agreed, though in a half-hearted manner that missed the point.
Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr., Delaware Democrat, seemed to agree.
"I think a filibuster makes sense when you have a prospect of actually succeeding," he said on CNN’s "Late Edition."
The filibuster makes sense when there is an actual extraordinary circumstance that would require such a manuever, maybe like an attempt to socialize medicine, or outlaw a certain minority group or any instance with far reaching implications that were a threat to our society. Regardless of the feelings of those on the looney left, confirming Judge Alito is not one of those instances.
Senator Obama originally made sense with this statement:
"There’s one way to guarantee that the judges who are appointed to the Supreme Court are judges that reflect our values. And that’s to win elections," he said.
Something we have been trying to tell the Dems for a while now. Of course Mr. Obama negated his common sense statement by saying he will support the attempted filibuster anyway. I’m not quite sure how that squares with the Mr. Every Man image the media and Democratic Party has bestowed upon the freshman Senator from Illinois. But then logic has not been a strong suit in the process for some time.

Picture of an actual Democratic strategy session
"Hey we can filibuster to make up for the lack of popular support, and if that doesn’t work we’ll fling poop."
Listen to B O Superstar guys, win elections. That might mean a introspective examination about policies, you know; coming up with something that the American people can believe in and support.

Senator John Kerry (D Kennedy) has called for a filibuster to stall the confirmation of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. It is largely an expected move by a Senator who plays largely to the extreme left supporters of the Democratic Party.
One can only guess that Sen. Kerry’s intentions are to raise his creds with the extreme left leaning Democratic donors such as George Soros. In an attempt to manuever for another run at the Presidency in 2008, he may want to leave himself some positions to fall back on in an attempt to avoid "voting for before voting against" scenarios that damaged his already weak credibility in 2004. One could say this is playing politics while he manuevers his platform and philosophy to make a grab at the big enchilada and be correct in the assertion. I see nothing wrong with it even though his positions are boneheaded and sure losers. That the Senator does not learn from his past is a boon for the conservatives. Moving ever further left has not proven effective at any time in recent history. President Clinton had to appear to move to the center to get elected and his wife appears to be doing the same thing as she jockeys for a future Presidential bid.
That Brings us back to Sen. Kerry’s statement. His main assertion for imposing a filibuster on the Senate stems from this quote in his address yesterday:
"Why are we so compelled to accept in such a rush a nominee who has so clearly been chosen for political and ideological reasons?"
Why indeed? Because the President has the right to nominate the person he feels to be qualified and that best fits his philosophy. This President feels that Judge Alito will rule on law and constitutional matters in the manner of an constructionist and not invent law to fit his own ideology. Why did President Clinton nominate Ruth Bader Ginsberg or Steven Breyer? They were judges that were chosen for ideological reasons as is the privelege of the President. That is why it is important to win elections, something Senator Kerry did not do or HE would be the one naming the Supreme Court nominees right now. If a judge has the votes to get out of committee they are due a vote from the full Senate. Nothing objectionable has been found in the background of Judge Alito to merit a filibuster. As for the rush to accept the nominee, there has been ample time and multiple delays, including the Senator’s own. Judge Alito was nominated by the President on October 31.
In a move showing the lack of strength and decisiveness that so dominates the left these days, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D Pelosi) has expressed reservations about a filibuster while vowing to support it at the same time. This action is characterized as a protest vote against the poor choice he believes Judge Alito to be. Is that the "extraordinary circumstances" mentioned by the "gang of 14" ? I wouldn’t think this nomination falls into such a category.
Until (and unless) the main body of the Democratic party develops a platform and agenda that is FOR something besides obstruction and negativism they can look forward to many more years in the wilderness.

…is the home of Congressman Dan Lipinski. Son of the former Congressman and Transportation Committee stalwart Bill Lipinski. The junior Lipinski didn’t necessarily gain his lofty position using the normal channels. In August 2004, after the primary, but too late to make other arrangements, Bill Lipinski announced that he was too tired, and wanted to retire from Congress for "family" reasons. Now there is no way one can tell me these revelations popped tinto the Congressman’s head at that time. If these were real issues he would have considered them prior to running in the primary. Since Mr. Lipinski is a ward committeeman and had close ties to the others, he was able to arrange a favorable vote to allow his son to run in his stead. Maybe Dan Lipnski was qualified, but if this were the case then he should have been able to withstand a primary. Instead he was installed. The Republican opponent was a young man named Ryan Chalda rumored to be a plant, who never mounted a public campaign and was defeated soundly.
Fast forward to Jan 2006 and the younger Lipinski, with a year under his belt, prepares for re-election. In this article from today’s Chicago Tribune , there is now allegations of the orgnization running a plant in the primary to dilute the opposition vote. Currently in the 3rd District, winning the primary is tantamount to winning the general election . While there is currently no concrete proof that these allegations are correct, it does look a little fishy and furthers to add to the shaky lack of confidence so many express for politicians these days. Mr. Lipinski will need to stay out of these kinds of dust ups in the future if he ever wishes to command repsect and break away from his father’s shadow.
One item of note was an expression showing a predilection towards physical contact by the "plant" John T. Kelly. After Sen. Mary Landrieu’s threat to hit the President in the weeks following Hurricane Katrina, it makes one wonder if there is something in the water on the left side of the aisle these days.

…Is still gambling. You can call it lotto, or keno as blow dried Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich calls it.
You see the during his campaign, the Governor promised he would not expand gambling beyond the last remaining license already authorized by the legislature. He also promised not to raise income or sales taxes so he has put himself in quite a bind. Earlier, Mr. Blagojevich had unveiled an ambitious plan to repair and build schools, among other things to the tune of 3.2 billion dollars, all to be paid for by allowing keno in establishments across the state. To appear that he kept his promise he claimed that keno is allowed under the state lotto statutes and he did not need legislative approval. Very slick Willie-like of him.
Unfortunately for the Governor, Illinois Attorney General Mary Katherine Gallagher errr…I mean… Lisa Madigan weighed in with a little unwanted news. She issued her opinion that the lotto statutes did not allow keno and Gov. Blagojevich would indeed need legislative approval.

AG Madigan is from the Gov’s own Democratic Party and while I did not support her I do admire her independent streak at times.
Mr. Blagojevich has since dropped his keno proposal like a hot potato claiming he never intended to push it without legislative approval. His actions make one want to ask; why the claim that he didn’t need approval in the first place? His next step was not to offer an alternative means to amass the funding needed, but to blame it on the Republicans. The minority party in the state and a fairly weak bunch in my opinion.
Blagojevich also declined to discuss any ideas for replacing the money keno would have generated for the state, instead insisting it’s up to Republican lawmakers to take the next step on his proposal for a construction program.
"What I’m not going to do– and I think this experience suggests that we shouldn’t– is throw out a bunch of options so that these guys just keep shooting them down," Blagojevich said.
This guy truly thinks he is a teflon being who doesn’t have to answer to his own statements. Unfortunately after seeing the Republican debate tonight I’m not overly enthused about the chances of beating him. We live in nearly one party state where the opposition seems to think the way to victory is to act like the Democrats. In the end we’ll survive as we always do.
A final thought; At what point did we lose our way so badly that more often than not, states look at gambling as the only new source of potential funding? Please find me a politician willing to make the tough choices, he or she may end up serving one term but it would be a fruitful term indeed.

President Bush defends his use of warrantless electronic surveillance in this article. We have heard the hue and cry of the loss of civil liberties and criminal activities visited upon us by this administration, but never any solutions from the critics. At least not beyond the cry for more investigations (fishing expeditions in liberalese).
I would be interested in hearing a story from someone — anyone about personal civil liberties they have lost as a result of this snooping or as a result of the Patriot Act. Additionally, I would be interested in hearing from people who think anyone gives a rats hindquarters enough about them to bother listening in on their boring 1-900 phone calls. Spare me the Hitler analogies. If you are carrying on conversations with known or suspected terrorists then worry. Otherwise the President, NSA, FBI or CIA isn’t interested in you.
Since the heinoius attack on our fellow citizens on 9/11 and especially since the war began in Iraq we’ve heard a significant amount of carping about our loss of liberty and the restrictions now being placed upon us. The inordinate amount of press given to moonbats like Cindy Sheehan, Ward Churchill and Michael Moore should give one pause to rethink the loss of freedom canard. Think about what their anti-establishment speech would get them in the Taliban society; a severed head rolling amongst the dust of the local soccer stadium. Dissent is fine if you really believe in your cause, just try to keep it based in reality.
